Hair transplants are the one category in this series where Turkey is so dominant that every other destination has to explain itself against Istanbul. Thailand’s explanation begins with an admission: it is more expensive.
The Price, Honestly
| Thailand | Turkey | |
|---|---|---|
| FUE, typical range | $2,500–7,000 (2,000–4,000 grafts) | $1,700–3,800 |
| 2,500 grafts | ~$5,500–8,400 at the higher end | $2,500–5,000, often all-inclusive |
| Pricing model | Per graft (~฿40–120) | Package with a maximum graft count |
Thailand can run up to around 50% more than Turkey for the same number of grafts. If price is the deciding factor, Istanbul wins and this guide won’t pretend otherwise.
Per Graft vs Package — the Comparison Most People Get Wrong
The pricing models differ, and that makes naive comparison misleading.
Per-graft pricing (usual in Thailand) means you pay for what is actually transplanted. If your donor area yields fewer usable grafts than hoped, you pay less.
Package pricing (common in Turkey) means a fixed price with a stated maximum — “up to 4,000 grafts”. The price is predictable, but the number that matters is how many grafts were actually placed, not the ceiling on the brochure.
To compare fairly: convert both quotes to price per graft actually placed, and ask any package clinic to record the real count on the day. A package advertising 4,000 grafts that places 2,800 is a different deal from the headline.
What the Accreditation Signals
Bangkok Hair Clinic is accredited by the ISHRS (International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery) and ABHRS (American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery). Both are speciality-specific.
That matters more in hair restoration than in most fields. The industry’s persistent problem, particularly in high-volume markets, is procedures carried out largely by technicians rather than doctors. Speciality-specific credentials don’t settle that question on their own, but they show a physician-led practice engaged with the professional standards of the field. Whichever country you choose, ask directly who performs the graft extraction and implantation — the surgeon, or a technician.
Where Care Actually Happens
Bangkok Hair Clinic — a Bangkok hair transplant centre offering FUE (shaven and non-shaven), DHI implanter technique, eyebrow transplantation, and non-surgical hair loss treatments including scalp injections and low-level laser therapy. Accredited by ISHRS and ABHRS, rated 4.6/5 across 340 reviews, mid-range pricing. English, Thai and Arabic spoken.
Two options worth noting for particular patients: non-shaven FUE, for people who can’t take time away from work or public life with a shaved head, and eyebrow transplantation, which fewer clinics offer. The non-surgical treatments also matter if your hair loss is early enough that a transplant isn’t yet the right step.
It is Wellmap’s only verified hair transplant clinic in Thailand.
What This Means in Practice
Thailand makes the most sense for patients who:
- Are already in or travelling to Southeast Asia, where the Istanbul price gap narrows once flights are counted
- Want non-shaven FUE or eyebrow restoration
- Prefer per-graft pricing that tracks what is actually transplanted
- Speak Arabic and want a clinic that does too
- Want speciality-accredited, physician-led care and are willing to pay more for it
It makes least sense for a patient in Europe or the Middle East chasing the lowest price for a standard FUE. That is what Turkey does best.
What to Bring
- Photos of your hair loss from the front, top, crown and both sides, in good light — most clinics can give a preliminary graft estimate from these
- Your family history of hair loss
- Any hair loss medication you use or have used, such as finasteride or minoxidil, and for how long
- Your medical history, including anything affecting healing or bleeding
- A realistic sense of how much time off you can take, which affects whether non-shaven FUE is worth it
Getting Started
Send photos first and ask for a graft estimate and a per-graft price in writing — then compare that figure, not the headline, against any package quote. See verified hair transplant clinics in Thailand, or ask our AI assistant — describe your hair loss and whether you’d need a non-shaven technique.
