We select clinics by confirmed registration and accreditation, the specialties they genuinely provide, verified patient reviews, transparency about prices, and how readily their doctors work with patients from abroad. This page explains exactly what that involves — including what we don't do — so you can judge how much weight to put on any list you find on Wellmap.

Used only inside top-clinic guides, for well-known clinics we haven't checked. Details come from the clinic's own website or named third-party sources, cited in the guide. These clinics are not in our directory or AI recommendations.
That the Wellmap team has checked the clinic's registration in its country, confirmed its specialties and accreditations, and manually reviewed its doctor profiles. Only verified clinics appear in the Wellmap clinic directory and in our AI assistant's recommendations.
Our verified database doesn't yet cover every good clinic in every country. So that a guide reflects the real options, it may also list well-known clinics we have not verified. Those entries are clearly labelled "Not verified by Wellmap", use only facts published by the clinic itself or by named third-party sources, and never carry a rating or price we have not sourced.
Verified clinics come first, ordered by Wellmap status (Select, then Partner, then Verified) and then by patient rating. Unverified clinics follow in alphabetical order — we don't rank clinics we haven't checked against each other.
Basic listing is free. Wellmap earns revenue from clinics that pay for premium listings, which is what the Partner and Select statuses reflect. Payment does not buy the Verified check, and it does not change what our guides say about a clinic.
Each guide shows the date it was last updated. We review priority guides monthly — prices, review counts and the list of clinics.
