Turkey and Georgia sit next to each other on the map and on many patients’ shortlists. For eye surgery the difference that matters most isn’t price or quality — it’s information. Turkish providers publish prices openly; Georgian ones mostly don’t. That changes how you compare them.
Choose Turkey if…
- You want to compare published prices before contacting anyone
- You want an all-inclusive package with hotel and transfers
- You want the highest-volume option: Dünyagöz performs over 100,000 refractive surgeries a year
- You need Arabic, Russian or German alongside English
Choose Georgia if…
- You’re already in the region, or combining eye surgery with other treatment in Tbilisi
- You want a centre with a long ophthalmology tradition and KTQ accreditation
- You’re comfortable getting a quote rather than reading a price list
- Russian or Georgian is your preferred language

Where a cell says “not reliably published,” we looked and found nothing we could verify. We’d rather leave it blank than guess.
Why Georgia’s Missing Prices Matter
A published price lets you shortlist from your sofa. Without one, you have to contact clinics, send records, and wait — and the quotes you get may not be comparable because each clinic includes different things.
That isn’t a reason to rule Georgia out. It’s a reason to ask both countries the same structured question: price for both eyes, which procedure and laser, what pre-operative tests are included, which drops, and how many follow-up visits.
The Side Effect Worth Knowing Before You Choose a Procedure
The most common complication of LASIK is dry eye. A 2024 comparison of ICL, SMILE and LASIK published in Cureus found it affected around 60–70% of LASIK patients. It happens because creating the corneal flap cuts some of the nerves that tell the eye to make tears. Most cases settle within three to six months with lubricating drops.
What this means in practice: if you already have dry eyes, work at a screen all day, or wear contact lenses that bother you, ask whether SMILE — a flapless procedure — or a lens-based option suits you better. It costs more, but the trade-off may be worth it. Both countries’ verified centres have the equipment for it.
