Turkey is the world’s best-known dental implant destination, and Thailand is a major medical tourism hub for almost everything else — bariatric surgery, cosmetic procedures, health checkups. Put dental implants specifically side by side, and the honest answer is that they’re not really competing for the same trip.
Choose Turkey if…
- You’re travelling from Europe — a 3-4 hour flight against Thailand’s 13
- You want a dedicated implant clinic rather than a dental department inside a general hospital
- Price on a single implant is the deciding factor
- You want the deeper bench: 5 verified clinics against Thailand’s 3
Choose Thailand if…
- You’re already travelling to Southeast Asia for another reason and can fold the dental work in
- You want treatment inside a large, internationally accredited hospital — Bumrungrad is one of Asia’s highest-volume international hospitals
- Full-arch work with a budget Korean implant system brings the per-arch price close to Turkey’s

The Flight Is the Real Difference
A single implant is cheaper in Turkey, but the gap at the low end — $400 against $700 — is modest against the scale of what else changes. The flight is the bigger number. Implant treatment is rarely one visit: placement, a healing period, then the crown, sometimes months apart. At 3-4 hours, a second trip from Europe to Istanbul is a long weekend. At 13 hours to Bangkok, it’s a different kind of commitment.
What this means in practice: if dental work is the entire reason for the trip and you’re coming from Europe, Turkey’s combination of lower price and shorter flight is hard to beat on paper. Thailand’s case gets stronger specifically when the flight is already happening for another reason — a health checkup, a different procedure, or travel you’d be doing anyway.
The Brand Decides More Than the Country
In both countries, the quoted price depends heavily on which implant system is used, and Thai pricing makes this unusually explicit: about 35,000 baht with a Korean system (Neobiotech, Osstem, Dentium), rising to 65,000 baht with Straumann Roxolid and 80,000 baht with Straumann Roxolid SLActive. Turkey’s published low end assumes a comparable economy brand.
Ask for the brand by name before comparing any two quotes. A $400 Turkish quote and an $800 Turkish quote may be the same procedure with different hardware — and that hardware is what any dentist, anywhere, will be working with for the next decade or more.

Who Each Country Doesn’t Suit
Turkey’s clinics skew toward dedicated implant specialists — good for a focused dental trip, less useful if you want everything, including dentistry, inside one hospital’s record system. Thailand’s verified options are general hospitals: strong for patients already being treated there for something else, a less natural first choice if implants are the only reason you’re travelling and flight time is a real constraint.
